Shamadha: My question is about fear. Fear of being on this "holiday", what you are calling the real holiday. (Earlier in the Satsang, Dolano referred to mind being in rest with no thoughts as the "real holiday.") For me, to jump in there is okay, but to be in it is very scary… Dolano: It is not scary, your thoughts are scary. Ignore the thoughts. And what is the problem with fear? If there is fear, there is fear. If there is fear then you create a lot of thoughts to calm yourself down: "Don't be afraid," and blah blah blah… these thoughts are creating even more fear. Do not run away from fear with thoughts. You are not free having thoughts about fear, "I shouldn't fear". With these thoughts, you think you could escape from fear. If there is fear just simply allow this fear to be there. What is wrong with fear? If you don't fear the fear, then there is fear— but you are not afraid. When you were a child, you were very excited about fear, you play ghosts. After school you go through the graveyard—you didn't do this? I was locked one time in a room with three dead bodies. My friends locked me in there, when we went for fun after school to the hospital, and downstairs was this room, so I was inside. My friends fast run out, lock, close! And then I thought, "Oh my God! What am I doing?" Me afraid too but I was also smart. I thought I am going to be very quiet now, I am not doing anything. So outside they were talking, "What happened to her?" So they get scared outside and they opened the door to look if she is still alive… (laughter). Fear! You watch movies, they have to be scary. In truth you are attracted towards fear. Fear is very natural. You are not free of fear with having no experience of fear. You are not… this is not like that. You are free of fear if you no more fear the fear, you hear me? You can experience any fear but you are not afraid of fear. Can you follow that? If you do not fear the fear then see what is all about fear, tell me? Then there is fear but I am not afraid, you hear me? Fear will always be in the body. Fear is natural, will never go. You have an idea that to be free of fear is that there is never fear. It is not like that. It is having the courage to experience the fear without running. In fact you run after fear. Ohhh! Fear, ohhhh come on! There is fear but I am not afraid. This is how you are free of fear, not to fear the fear! With your idea that there should be no fear, this is when you are in trouble, then you are afraid of fear, you hear me? Fear will be always in the body. When this mind is not liberated you are afraid of many things because your vision is wrong. You worry about tomorrow, after tomorrow and all these things you worry about and about. These are all thoughts, ideas… There is maybe fear in the body. What is wrong with this fear in the body? This body-mind organism is nature and is programmed to function a certain way, you can't go against nature. Fear is like an alarm bell for this body to survive. So, if this body-mind is liberated, there will be still fear in the body because this body-mind organism is sooner or later going to die. But at the same time this body-mind organism is programmed to survive as long as possible. That's why our beloved servant mind, the creativity of mind, is able to find medicine and study this body. This creativity of mind studies nature and this body so it can survive as long as possible. You hear Buddha talking and you have ideas what does it mean to be free of fear—that there must be no fear. If this mind is liberated then there is natural fear… a natural fear which is happening like waves in the body. So there can be fear in this body for no reason at all, no need for any reason, just in the body. It is like the leaf in the tree, the breeze of the wind coming and shaking, ahhhhh! Yes? It is natural. So do not think it something wrong, nothing is wrong with fear. Of course if this mind is liberated then there is natural fear… a natural fear which is happening like waves in the body, but you are not afraid of it. There is fear but I am not afraid. Yes? This is natural fear. Not liberated, you create a lot of fears. You're creating this fear. You say you fear when mind is in holiday in rest. Why? Meditation is not scary, it is the most safe situation, the most safe. When you close the eyes… just close the eyes for a moment, just see, just for a moment close the eyes. There you see in fact there are no boundaries, isn't it? Isn't it absolute freedom, isn't it safe? How beautiful! And so eternal and so safe. It can't be ever lost. This body may drop off but this situation is so safe. Do not tell your horror stories, do not be childish and waste your time with blah blah. This body life is too short to find out what is all about it. How beautiful. Okay you can open the eyes again. Is it answered for you? Can you just speak, say yes or no? Shamadha: Yeah… Dolano: Yeah, good. Shamadha: It is… Dolano: Yes, do not hesitate. You have a recognition, do not hesitate. You have recognition, this to be safe and fear is natural. So you have the courage to face it, isn't it? So come on, let fear come, yes? And see, there is fear but I am not afraid. This is when you are free of fear. Be natural! You have ideas with your logical conclusion and your wrong vision. You hear Buddha talking and you have ideas what does it mean to be free of fear—that there must be no fear. This is not like that. You hear me? This body-mind organism when liberated will still continue to exist in its nature. It will not change. Once you know who you are, you come to know your very very nature which is Buddha and with that you will also know what is so natural, you hear me? Then you will also know fear is natural. But you will not have these unnecessary fears, you hear me, you will not create. So run after fear, okay? And you will see what is all about it. Okay, good.
